November 24, 2020:
A new map update was released today - Moldova NT Road Atlas 2020.4
535 new POIs were added, including shops (+182), companies/services (+175), tourist
attractions (+20), car services/fuel stations (+17), health care institutions (+15), etc.
Total number of POIs exceeded 84.6 thousand, of which about 20 thousand have phone numbers.
The number of settlements having street names has increased by 4, so
that labelled STNW coverage is now in 1096 settlements, which have in
total 28,074 labelled streets (+228).
Also, there were 736 new address points
added.
Starting with this release, all map information has been re-coded, switching from "Î" to "Â". This refers to everything - POIs, settlement names, and street names.
The standard version, in Latin alphabet, we have the same thing, but without the specific Romanian letters - instead of "Î" we have "I" and instead of "Â" we have "A".
For compatibility reason, we kept the old style of names written with "Î" (i.e. "I" in Latin script) just for settlements, so that those who are not aware of the change would still be able to search for them.
At the same time, we made the following change in the standard version with Latin script:
names of all settlements from Transnistria, as well as the street names from there, are now written in line with the English language transcription, i.e. with "sh" for "ш", "ch" for "ч", "ts" for "ц" and "y" for "ы".
Also, there were numerous technical corrections/updates made to the map data (routing, address search, etc.)
This is complete update, for all Garmin devices, including the version
for smart watches, and is offered free of charge to all our customers.
